Inside a Chick's Head: Issue 4.1

Mmm mmm good! (As always.) So the idea of this column is that I ask chicks topical questions in order to improve the lives of fellow man. This is how it works: I send questions to a chick that I know, they answer anonymously however they want (including a free-style answer at the end where they can say whatever they'd like about anything), I post their answers, and people read them (most likely laughing -- with the guys secretly taking notes).

I will probably be sending out the same questions to 2-3 chicks over the span of one month so the readers can compare answers between the different ladies. Then I'll be sending out a new set of questions for the next month.  It's fun, and interesting.

So here is the tenth neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #10.

1) What type of outfit catches your eye on a guy? What turns you off?

It definitely depends on the setting. Passing on the street or waiting for the Metro on a weekday, business suits will most likely make you noticeable. In most other settings, I notice the comfortably preppy outfits. I like polos and have a soft spot for tasteful argyle, but I don’t care to know what brand you wear; and if you can reasonably swing it, given setting and temperature – you better be wearing flops (specifically rainbows – my one brand-snob preference). I can’t think of any turn-off outfits. Some guys look better in, and some settings call for, more athletic, more professional, or more brand-conscious types of outfits. But at the end of the day, I like a confident guy – regardless of the outfit. So wear what makes you comfortable.

2) Do you like more traditional dates (think dinner and a movie), or do you like more unique/adventurous dates? Please use examples.

I like meal or coffee or happy hour dates toward the beginning of dating, because I want to have conversation and figure out if I like you for the right reasons. Given that, I actually think movie dates suck in the early stages of a relationship. If I already know I like you, or we’re already dating, then the game changes. Top dates for me include: wandering around a downtown area and into buildings/floors of buildings where we probably were not supposed to go, getting day drunk and meandering around before walking home while the rest of the world is getting ready to start the night, going to concerts, and making dinner together.

3) What level of intimacy constitutes cheating (kissing, making out, BJ, sex, etc.)? What level of intimacy triggers some sort of duty to tell your significant other of what you did?

All of it. I once heard that if it’s something you wouldn’t want to see your mom doing with your neighbor, then it’s too much. Anything that involves kissing or more is not something I want my boyfriend doing with some other chick. That said, I only enter relationships when I am serious about them and want the exclusivity factor. Some couples don’t operate on that level – and if it works for them, fine. But I draw the line at kissing.

4) Under what circumstances is it acceptable for a girl to “go commando”? Have you? If so, describe the circumstances.

Have I gone commando? Of course! In fact, May 7 used to be commando day for my sorority class. Sometimes you just go commando for the hell of it. But not usually. Times where commando is the way to go: (1) date night with the boyfriend – wear a skirt and at the appropriate moment (when you’re still out) mention the fact that you’re not wearing underwear and are looking forward to showing him the perfect end to the perfect date night, (2) certain so-called “walk of shame” (walk of victory?) mornings… and (3) if you pee your pants. Duh.

5) Do you flirt with guys, even if you are in a relationship? If so, why? What kind of things do you do/say to flirt?

I love people, and I have a really friendly/social/includer-type personality. That definitely does not change when I’m in a relationship. In fact, when I’m in a healthy relationship, I have more confidence than ever. So in conversation, I probably come across as very interested in you (because I am, as a friend), and I probably invite you to happy hours and include you in making plans. I love my friends – new and old, and I do these things because I truthfully want you around. But do I act like or say anything that would imply I want your tongue down my throat or to go home together? Definitely not. In fact, my priority is to have my boyfriend around, not only because I enjoy a tasteful amount of PDA, but also because I do want to go home with him. If my actions ever don’t line up with this, you can bet that relationship will end in the very near future.

6) What’s the most unusual thing a guy has tried to do during sex? Did you ultimately go with it, or not?

I dated a guy who went through a photography fetish. Once, right in the middle of fooling around, he stopped and asked if he could turn the lights on and take pictures of us while we were already all hot and bothered. Of course I went with it. And of course it was fun. Now that we have broken up, I shudder when I think about the possibility of anyone ever coming into the possession of that flash drive, the home photos of me on my knees and in other various positions with him… [editor's note: best. answer. ever.]

7) Do you like music on the bedroom during sex, and why? Lights on or off, and why?

More often than not – yes. Not only have I been fortunate to sleep with guys who have good musical taste, but also because they tend to not live alone. I certainly do not mean that music should be playing every time, but if he plays music, I will like it. I find it especially cute either at the beginning of a relationship, or awhile in as a gesture of romance. Lights – doesn’t matter. If I’m sleeping with you, I’m confident enough to let you see me; also, I like daytime action, so darkness isn’t really an option. Dim or no lights can also be really sexy, though.

8) Do you require your man to trim “down there”? Any personal preference, in terms of style?

Require? No, but I have never slept with anyone who didn’t keep it reasonably trim. So if I came across something bad, I suppose it would be a requirement to some extent. I want him to be comfortable, so I would never set up strict standards. But I also don’t want either a mouthful of hair or a face-scratching experience when I’m blowing him.

9) Have you ever cheated on a significant other? Be honest. If you did, feel free to justify yourself, and was it worth it? And if you didn’t, ever been cheated on?

Cheating is tricky. Two circumstances come to mind where I could be guilty. In the first, I was out of town and very drunk, and another drunk guy (who I repeatedly told of my boyfriend) grabbed my face and kissed it as I turned around at one point. I pushed him away and nothing else happened, but I still felt really bad about it. The second: more than once, I would hang out with an ex with whom I was still friends, and we’d cuddle. One time I cried to him about my grandpa until I fell asleep, and I woke up the next morning with him still cuddling me. So you tell me, guys – did I cheat? And to my knowledge, I haven’t been cheated on – though I did once find a file that made me suspicious in a boyfriend’s dropbox folder.

10) Freestyle. Go!

My current pet peeve surrounds boys hitting on me when they actually have girlfriends. Seriously guys, why? If you aren’t happy with her – get rid of her. And if you are happy with her, then keep your shit together and refrain from various forms of trying to get with other girls. When I’m drunk, and I do not know you well, I’m going to assume you’re single if you make a move on me. If I find out you actually have a lady, I am going to feel bad about my own actions, and I am going to feel like you are an asshole both to me and your girl. Flattering, sort of, that you think I’m hot. But not really. Because I do not want attention from someone who thinks it’s cool to cheat on the girl they’re supposed to be committed to. Don’t do it. Thanks.

Inside a Chick's Head: Issue 3.3

The best, sexiest, answers yet! So the idea of this column is that I ask chicks topical questions in order to improve the lives of fellow man.

So here is the ninth neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #9.

1. When is it cool in a relationship for the guy to expect you to chip in some money for dinners, activities, etc.?

This is a hard question, because it varies with the relationship, and the guy.  I’d say that unless the guy is really insistent on paying, I tend to chip in pretty early on (but if he’s a lot wealthier than I am, I’ll let him pay).  I always at least reach for my wallet when the check comes, because I don’t want to be seen like *that* girl, but generally, I’m a grown-ass woman and I can take care of/pay for myself.  I don’t think either party should ever expect the other party to pay.  This isn’t 1810.

2. Do you like your guys to have a thin, athletic, average, or muscular build? Why?

I don’t like guys to be skinnier than me.  Ideally, they need to be big enough to toss me around a little in bed (and fight off ninja attacks), and hopefully he’s athletic enough to get through sexytime without wheezing or needing a water break.  I’m definitely not looking for a Jersey Shore lookalike, and it would be nice if his gut didn’t hang out further than his wang, but I’m not all that picky when it comes to body type.

3. How does a guy avoid being put into the “friend zone”?

There’s the friend zone, and the “friend zone.”  The friend zone isn’t necessarily bad, because I’ve ended up hooking up with and/or dating some of my friends.  I’m terrible when it comes to dating, so I like the ease of starting to date someone that I already know I get along with.  Sometimes guys can’t help being in the “friend zone” because that’s where girls put guys they have no interest in hooking up with, ever, ever.   Be a good guy and a good friend to her; if you think you might be in the friend zone, try a flirty advance, like a hug, and see how she reacts.  If she twists away from your hug, you’re in the “friend zone” but if it’s full-body contact and she lingers, I’d say that’s a signal from the ump to steal second.

4. Are there any hints you give off when you “like” a guy? How about when you want to “bang”?

If I like you, I’m always trying to make you laugh, smiling a lot, making eye contact, finding excuses to touch you, making plans to hang out.  You know, the same stuff girls have been doing since the third grade.  I show a lot of cleavage if we’re out, maybe I toss my hair around a little, maybe I try to give you a sly little look across the room (this part doesn't always work after a few drinks and my eyes are half-closed).  I’m also really sarcastic, so if you can take it, and fling it right back at me, it’s such a turn on.

I’m not subtle. You know I want to bang when I text you something along the lines of “hey, wanna come over later?”

5. Have you ever (would you ever) date a guy from work?

I wouldn’t really call it “dating” … but I had a FWB from work once, and it was AWESOME.  We could sneak away and hook up, and I could totally get him flustered by playing the “sexy secretary” and making little innuendos that nobody else would pick up on.  And all day was like constant foreplay… but it was easier to do because I knew I was leaving the company soon, so I didn’t care what happened after it was over.  Not that I really cared anyway, but at least it wasn’t awkward.

6. In the locker room, how much clothes do girls really wear?  I’m sure that they are pretty much naked all of the time, but I just need confirmation.

I’d say most women are naked at some point in the locker room. This isn’t as hot as you’d think – all shapes, sizes, and ages are naked, so you have to watch out.  The worst are the old ladies who just plop down on the benches without putting a towel down first….ew.

7. How much dirty nasty sex shit do you tell your girlfriends about your own sex life? How much detail do you go into?

All of it. No seriously, all of it.  Especially the weird shit you guys pull that you’ve seen in some porno that makes us go… “I’m sorry, what was that?”

8. If you were a guy, who is a hot famous female that you would totally bang?

Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan from Entourage).  And I wouldn’t even have to be a guy… [Editor's note: niiice...]

9. Would you ever have a three way, and if so, with two guys or one guy and another chick? And if not, why not?

Probably, but I think only with another chick.  The dynamic with two guys would be weird, because I know they probably wouldn’t be into seeing each other naked, and there would be avoidance and weirdness, and no.  Two girls and one guy seems to be the only situation where everybody would be happy to be with everyone else, lots of touching.  Also, I can be kind of lazy and two guys just sounds like way too much work for me.

10. Freestyle. Go!

Men and women really aren’t all that different -- we want friendship, fun, and regular orgasms from someone who’s not totally hideous.  Bonus if you like dogs, sports, and wine (well, maybe that’s just for me).  We’re not that complicated, I promise!  Be a good person and it will show.  Nice guys don’t finish last – they may finish later, because we’re still in the “douchebag dating” phase of our twenties, but you will finish (heh) and she’ll appreciate you for being nice.

Also, I think the following chart sums up dating pretty nicely.  If you think you have all three, you’re delusional and your mom lied to you about one of the three.

Thanks Anonymous Chick # 9.  Key takeaway: Stop. Being. Totally. Hideous.

So here is the eighth neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #8.

1. When is it cool in a relationship for the guy to expect you to chip in some money for dinners, activities, etc.?

Definitely not on date one!  The sign of a good date, for a guy, is she offers to pay.  The sign of a good date, for a girl, is that he doesn’t let you.  Really, it depends on what kind of dates you are going.  It is acceptable on date two if you are going to a bar and she offers to buy the next the round.  If you are going on the more traditional dinner and a movie dates, the guy should take the traditional role and pay through date three (then you bang after date three, so all bets are off). Men usually want to be the ones doing the chasing, and they want to be the aggressor in the relationship.  With that comes paying for the dates. If you can’t afford it, don’t go on dates.  Sorry about ya.

2. Do you like your guys to have a thin, athletic, average, or muscular build? Why?

I like my guys to be average to muscular body type.  It is simple; I don’t want to feel like I outweigh my guy.  I want him to eat more than me, I want him to be taller than me, and I want a guy to be able to pick me up.  The last thing a girl wants is to feel like she needs to be the big spoon.  If I sit on your lap, I don’t want to feel like my ass is going to eat you.

3. How does a guy avoid being put into the “friend zone”?

Don’t comment on every hot girl that walks by or that you have previously boned!  That kind of conversation is appropriate with your buddies whom you don’t want to touch naked.  If a guy is talking to you like you are his guy friend, you are going to assume you are just one of the guys. A girl will start to talk to him as if he is just one of her friends.  That kind of uncensored honesty is not sexy.

4. Are there any hints you give off when you “like” a guy? How about when you want to “bang”?

When I like a guy I find excuses to talk to him, invite him places, and touch him.  When I want to bang a guy, I wait till we are both wasted, then I stand too close to him pushing my breasts into him.  Then I ask if he wants to go to my place.  Usually works. By the way, guys should carry condoms when you go to the bar. Thanks!

5. Have you ever (would you ever) date a guy from work?

I dated a guy from work.  NEVER AGAIN. The good part was sneaking away during the day and banging at my place over lunch.  However, the bad far outweighed the good.  I couldn’t get away from him!  We would get into a fight, and I would have to spend all day with him.  We would break up, and I would have to spend all day with him.  Then we would get back together and start the whole cycle all over again.  Even if you don’t tell anyone at work, somehow they all know and it is awkward as ass.

6. In the locker room, how much clothes do girls really wear?  I’m sure that they are pretty much naked all of the time, but I just need confirmation.

Since we strapped on our first training bras, girls have mastered the art of to changing their clothes without ever actually being naked.  We do things like put our shorts on then take off your skirt, or put our sports bra on over our real bra.  Sorry to say there is little to no nudity in the ladies locker’s room...  Then we all make out.

7. How much dirty nasty sex shit do you tell your girlfriends about your own sex life? How much detail do you go into?

My girls know everything about my sex life. They know what his penis looks like. They know what I did with it. They know what positions we did it in. They know what he said, what I said, and how I felt about it.  If you are terrible or a have tiny penis, they will know about it.  But don’t worry, if you have a monster dick and are sex god, my friends will know that too.

8. If you were a guy, who is a hot famous female that you would totally bang?

Angelina Jolie -- not mother-conservatively-dressed Angelina Jolie (with Brad Pitt), but oh no!, dirty, tattooed, making out with her brother, fucking Billy Bob Thornton in the limo on the way over Angelina Jolie. I miss that dirty, sexy, crazy bitch.

9. Would you ever have a three way, and if so, with two guys or one guy and another chick? And if not, why not?

Although the idea of two sexy muscular men with their hands all over me is very tempting, I don’t think I would ever have a threesome with two guys.  As much as I love the gays, gay culture, and gay porn, I wouldn’t want to have sex with two guys that would be interested in having other men in the sack with them.  Admittedly, the fantasy of bringing another girl into the bedroom is sexy, I would probably never do that either.  I am a very jealous person, and I would be worried the guy was more into her than me.  I will choke a bitch.

10. Freestyle. Go!

Why are men incapable of the fuck buddy relationship? They want to bang once, then never again.  My girl friends have the same problem.  I seriously doubt the reason is because we [females] are all bad in bed; you seem to be enjoying it at the time.   I think they are scared if they sleep with the same girl again it will mean they are “dating” and heading towards a relationship.  I know many busy professional women who are not looking to be in a relationship or dating someone.  They just want someone to throw it in them from time to time, no muss no fuss.   Look into it guys.  Call that girl from Thursday night on Saturday and see if she isn’t game for round two.

Thanks Anonymous Chick # 8.  Key takeaway: Fuck buddy with a monster dick? ... Check and check.

Inside a Chick's Head: Issue 3.1

The best, sexiest, questions and answers yet! So the idea of this column is that I ask chicks topical questions in order to improve the lives of fellow man.

So here is the seventh neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #7.

1. When is it cool in a relationship for the guy to expect you to chip in some money for dinners, activities, etc.?

Third “date,” or time, you hang out.  Honestly, many (if not most) girls hope that you’ll pay on the first date and will feel a bit let down if you don’t.  The second date they don’t expect it, so it’s a nice surprise when you do.  I think it means a lot—basically, it says: “all of the nice things you did on the first date weren’t just ‘for show.’” Now, this doesn’t mean that the girl shouldn’t offer… I think they should always offer—but you shouldn’t accept it the first and even second time.  There really are certain times when you should always pay—like if you invite her to the movies, or even a baseball game, etc. with your family… Or the very first time you let her tag along to go paintballing with you.

2. Do you like your guys to have a thin, athletic, average, or muscular build? Why?

I like guys who are bigger than me.  It sounds simple, but for me it really is just the idea that whoever you’re with can protect you.  I tend to be attracted to athletic or muscular builds—I’d love to go running every now and then or go down to the court with a guy and shoot around a little… so I think I figure that a guy with an athletic build would be into that (although I recognize that’s not totally accurate).

Don’t fret if you are lean and mean though—I can absolutely guarantee that other ladies totally disagree with me and would prefer an average to thin build (my best friend, for instance).  Just like some of you are boob men or ass men… it all depends.  I would rather be with a thin guy who makes me laugh and keeps me on my toes than a raging, boring, meathead ANY day! (Is this question coming up?)

3. How does a guy avoid being put into the “friend zone”?

Probably just close the deal on the first night.  It significantly decreases any opportunity to learn about her childhood, her interests, hobbies, last name, and certainly prevents the development of any “real” friendship.  Seriously, it’s hard… but if I was always worried about falling into a guy’s “friend zone” anytime I was interested in them, I would have missed out on a lot of good friends.  The hard truth is that if a girl wants to bang you, you won’t be “just friends” for long.  Unfortunately, the whole “friend” thing is an excuse that most girls use to keep things from getting awkward, and also to make themselves feel better.  Beware though, there is a difference between “we’re just too good of friends” and “I just want to remain friends.”  If you get the first response, then they probably aren’t that good—or honest—of a friend.

4. Are there any hints you give off when you “like” a guy? How about when you want to “bang”?

Yes.  I will find any opportunity to touch you.  (Ex:  “Oh, your collar is crooked, let me fix it”; [Touching the back of your neck] “I love your haircut”; or “Oopsy, your zipper is down.  Here, let me do it—my hands are smaller.”)

While it might not be our finest moment, we’ll also text when we’re out or drunk.  I typically don’t endorse this drunk-texting behavior, but if you have a reasonable suspicion that you might be the recipient of a drunk text… embrace it.  Trust me.

5. Have you ever (would you ever) date a guy from work?

This is a perfect example of how the whole “women’s rights/abolishment of chivalry” movement backfired.  We’re faced with the predicament of being surrounded by motivated, successful men who are capable of caring for a woman, but we are not really able to reap any of the benefits.  It’s like waving a cookie in front of a chick on a diet… It’s unfair and, frankly, just cruel.  (Disclaimer:  I’m mostly joking.)

I wouldn’t date a guy from work if I was currently working there.  Part of it is because I don’t want any of my personal life to become a topic of conversation during coffee breaks… jealousy and cattiness comes in all shapes and sizes, and I don’t doubt that some coworkers, regardless if they’re in a relationship or married, would rather hate on my relationship than care for their own.  But it’s even more than that—without playing the “poor me” card, it can sometimes be difficult for women to be taken seriously, especially when they are young.  The last thing I would want to do is to play into any of those naĂŻve stereotypes.  Although, I wholeheartedly believe that a mid-morning or late-afternoon “romp” in one of our offices would arouse my productivity for the rest of the day… (I’m sure there are studies out there to back me up).

I do think we should take advantage of our co-workers... as a way to meet their good-looking, equally as driven, intelligent friends.  Set up happy hours and have everyone invite other friends so people can meet.  People helping people… it’s a beautiful thing.

6. In the locker room, how much clothes do girls really wear?  I’m sure that they are pretty much naked all of the time, but I just need confirmation.

Haha! Oh boy, I really hope you’re sitting down for this one… the only boobs I see on a regular basis in the locker room are my own… or the 75 year old woman’s who just finished her swimming class.  Sports bras and shorts, or wearing a towel, are the typical go-to attire.  But when the girls get together for sleepovers, we usually just wear…

7. How much dirty nasty sex shit do you tell your girlfriends about your own sex life? How much detail do you go into?

To my closest friends?  (Almost) everything.  That time you tried to shoot for the moon but I just wound up seeing blurry *stars* in my eyes for the rest of the night instead?… Yup, I told her.  Or the reason why I so desperately want to sit on ice after all the excitement and glory of last night is because you left me sore and walking funny?...  Yeah, she’ll probably know who, what, when, where, why, and most importantly, how.

I obviously wouldn’t tell just anyone—and I would never tell anyone other than my closest few friends the juicy, or even embarrassing, stuff.  We don’t run around comparing sizes or continuously make fun of a ridiculous porn move you tried out.  We might tell our closest friend, but even if I know something absurd, I’m not thinking about it the next time I see my friend’s guy.  Don’t worry about what she is telling her friends though.  If she’s coming back to your restaurant on a regular basis, she’s obviously hungry for your main course.

It also depends on how long you’ve been doing the deed… the earlier into a new relationship or hookup, the more we discuss.  But our convos actually work for your benefit—Let me compare it to football:
Every team has a quarterback and every quarterback has a strategy and a few go-to plays that always work for their team.  Now, what if you tell your friend, who is also a quarterback, about your special play…and they try it out on their team? And it works.  He could… go… allll… the… wayyy…

8. If you were a guy, who is a hot famous female that you would totally bang?

Jennifer Aniston.  Done and done.  She’s beautiful, hilarious, and by all accounts, a really sweet, classy woman.  What more could you want?  Perfect boobs?  Check.  Amazing legs?  Check.  Tight stomach? Check.
I want to take this opportunity to discredit any of you out there who disagree with me and favor the brunette, gothic mistress who is now with Jen’s ex.  How many kids has she had?  At least 3 of her own?  Good luck… I don’t care how much meat you’re packing—that’s like throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

9. Would you ever have a three way, and if so, with two guys or one guy and another chick? And if not, why not?

I think we all know—BAD things happen in threes… But a three way would probably fall under the “bad in a good way” category.  Honestly, I’ve gone back and forth on this.  I actually wouldn’t want it with two guys… I’m attracted to guys who are comfortable and secure with themselves, but also someone who wouldn’t be cool with the idea of “sharing” his girl.  Being a LITTLE territorial is sexy.

I dated a guy and the topic of a threesome came up (hypothetically) and he said that it obviously sounded great, but that he honestly didn’t know if he could look his mom in the eyes again—It was actually really sexy that he was like, no, I’m good with you.

BUT, if I ever was in a three way, I’d imagine it with champagne being poured all over myself and the other girl…wearing some type of silver string bikinis...and we’d be licking it off of the guy and begging for more…and loud music would be playing… (and then Lil’ Wayne would start rapping and after 3 minutes the video director would call “cut” and we’d have to put our clothes back on).

10. Freestyle. Go!

This is my Public Service Announcement… Just keep it in mind for all those times you are privately serving your lucky lady:  Sex is amazing.  Foreplay—kissing, touching, licking, teasing foreplay—and then sex is f*cking amazing.  Any questions?

Thanks Anonymous Chick # 7.  Key takeaway: Go for the three-way, plain and simple.

Inside a Chick's Head: Issue 2.2

A new month, a new set of questions! So the idea of this column is that I ask chicks topical questions in order to improve the lives of fellow man.

So here is the fifth neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #5.

1) What kind of job would you like your man to have? How poor is too poor?

A guy doesn’t have to be in corporate America or a surgeon to get my attention. Those are great jobs, and you certainly won’t lose points if that’s the case, but the important thing is always that a guy be happy in his job, always growing, and put to a challenge. It’s a total turnoff to listen to a man complain day after day about his job without making any changes. So happiness is key. "Too poor" is when a man can’t provide for himself and relies on his parents financially. You’re never going to get a girl if you take her to your parent’s place for dinner because you can’t afford a restaurant.

2) Most disgusting things guys should just wait to do when you aren't around?

One thing I don’t need to see is your hands down your pants or you adjusting and/or scratching your junk. When you touch too much* it makes me think you either have some sort of itchy fungus or you are pleasuring yourself -- all things that need to be taken care of in privacy. Also, some grooming methods are better left to the imagination, like trimming down there or popping pimples.

* [Editor's Note: "Touch Too Much" is also the name of a very good AC/DC song.]

3) Most and least romantic things a guy ever did for you, respectively?

The most romantic thing a guy did for me was when my college boyfriend, who was in the reserves and stationed in Iraq, surprised me with a visit for a week in the middle of his deployment. He had told me his leave was canceled because of the increased need for troops, but it turns out that he said that just to throw me off. At work one day my coworker came back to my cubicle and told me that I had a visitor, so I went to the lobby and the first thing I saw was my boyfriend decked out in his fatigues with the biggest bouquet of roses I’ve ever seen. I don’t think anything will ever top that for me.

The least romantic has to be when a guy who liked me stood in the middle of a heavily traveled road and would not get out of the road until I told him that I would go out with him. Crazy is not romantic.

4) What’s the best way for a guy to deal with an angry drunk girlfriend? (I understand that without a context this question may be difficult, but please give it the jolly good try.)

First, hopefully this is not the norm [of the relationship], and if it is, there are usually some underlying issues that need to be dealt with… sober. With that said, alcohol can sometimes make us a little irrational. The best thing you can do is listen and at least act like you’re understanding what we’re saying. Basically just appease us until we’re both sober, it’ll be better for everyone in the end. The worst thing you can do is say things like “you’re acting crazy” or “you need to calm down” – these things automatically make us a thousand times more angry.

5) How sensitive must a guy be?

I’ve never been the kind of girl who’s into assholes, because I completely respect and appreciate a sensitive guy. The kind of sensitive I’m referring to is the guy who is genuinely interested in me and makes an effort to understand me and get to know me. He’s also someone I can have stimulating conversations with and who lets me know he’s thinking of me in cute little ways without being cheesy. There are limits to what’s acceptable sensitivity in a guy, and being whipped is not in the least bit attractive.

6) How CAN’T a guy ask a girl out (i.e. is it okay to ask a girl out over g-chat/email/text/etc.)?

All of these are acceptable except for an email. With g-chat or text, even though you’re not actually speaking to each other, you’re still having an ongoing conversation with the person. But an email involves limited back and forth dialogue and is too impersonal if you’re asking someone out for the first time.

7) Would you date a younger guy? How young?

I should say yes because age shouldn’t matter, but personally younger guys don’t appeal to me at all. That isn’t to say that I wouldn’t date someone a year or two younger than me who’s mature and at the same place in his life as I am, but older men are better in more ways than one…

8) Scenario: It’s your first time having sex with a particular person. Stay conventional and work up, later, to other positions? Or is the first time with someone like an audition... pull out all of the stops?

Depends on the situation. If it’s definitely a one night stand (face it, we all have a few) and I won’t be hooking up with this guy ever again, then I definitely pull out all of the stops. If you have one chance with the guy you have to make the most of it for the both of you, and there’s absolutely no reason to hold back. If it’s a guy that could possibly be around for longer, I still have fun with the positions, but on the more conventional side. I don’t want to pull out all the stops the first time and have no new surprises for him the next time we have sex.

9) Top or bottom (and why)?

Top! On top you have total control and something about that feeling completely turns me on. It lets you move the way that feels best, and there’s something about a man looking up at you with that “wow” look on his face that makes you feel so sexy.

10) Freestyle. Go!

The best advice I could give any guy is that confidence is key. It’s the sexiest quality a guy can have. Girls can easily pick a guy who is happy and confident out of a big crowd. If you’re not happy with yourself then there’s no way you’re going to be able to make us happy.

Thanks Anonymous Chick # 5.  Key takeaway: Have confidence and don't be "whipped," except when your girl is drunk... then just "listen" and "appease" her...

Inside a Chick's Head: Issue 1.3

So I'm trying to diversify my blog.  I came up with this idea to include the female perspective, aka, asking chicks topical questions in order to improve the lives of fellow man.

So here is the third neural synapse: Anonymous Chick #3.

1) What is the best gift a guy could get you?

A good gift is one that shows that you were thinking of her. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, it doesn’t have to glitter, and it certainly doesn’t have to empty your bank account. My mother likes utilitarian gifts, like snow blowers, gardening gloves, and a new garbage disposal. I like gifts that make me laugh. Two of the best gifts I’ve ever received? In high school, my boyfriend made me a stuffed rabbit that looked exactly like the one from this video, because it was something that we’d both found amusing and joked about:

The other gift was a box of oatmeal. Strange? Perhaps. But I’d been dating a guy and casually mentioned that I wished I could find the oatmeal I ate as a little kid, the kind with the dinosaur eggs. The next time he was at the grocery store, he happened to see it, and bought it for me. Three years later, I still remember it. Perhaps that’s personal taste (I suppose I’m a bit quirky), but again, if you’re buying her gifts, you should probably know her well enough to understand her type of personality.

2) Do you have any fashion advice for guys?

Have you noticed a trend in these answers? Number one most important? Pants that FIT. If you like them baggy, fine, if you like them tight, go for it. But just as girls are advised to not wear clothes that give away too much of their mystery, no one wants to be able to tell your... ahem... size, with your pants on. Additionally, they should not be falling off. There is a very good reason that Vanilla Ice is single (well, I mean, besides all the rage and drug issues). Otherwise, what you wear sends out a message about your personal style and taste, and it attracts those types of girls. So if you're wearing girl jeans, don't be surprised that all you can get is fourteen year old girls in Twilight t-shirts and heavy eyeliner.

3) Fashion advice for chicks?

Pretty much the same as above. If you’re attracted to a particular type of style, then go for it. But your clothes should always fit. And you should really dress your age. I once read a fashion article where they went through and broke down trends into “expiration dates” according to age, as well as providing alternate suggestions on how to wear it if you’re older (i.e. you really shouldn’t wear those black t-shirts with “clever” statements on them past the age of 21). I’ve also noted that guys are either disgusted or just plain scared of some of the strange things we girls decide are trendy. There really is such a thing as dressing for guys and dressing for girls. Wear what you want, but be aware of the consequences. (And it’s really hard to go wrong in jeans and a well-fitting tank top.)

4) What is the worst date that you've ever been on, and why?

I once went on a date with a guy who I’d previously dated and broken up with. It was his attempt to reconcile, but he was high, hitting on the waitress and using extremely vulgar and abusive language towards me.

So, uh, don’t do that.

5) What is the ideal first date?

Personally? A first date that isn’t really a first date. I’m a strong supporter of that whole “friends first” idea, so ideally, it wouldn’t be the first time you’ve met. But I guess in a general sense, coffee (because if it’s not going well, you can end it after one cup and cut your losses) and then some sort of activity that isn’t a movie. Movies are where you go to make out. Activities give you something to talk about if you’re nervous and unable to come up with talking points, but are designed to allow for socializing without being shushed by the grandma sitting behind you. If you’re really trying to get to know someone, try bowling, mini-golf, or take her to an arcade and challenge her to see who can get the most tickets at the end of the night (and then give her the kazoo that cost you thirty five tickets).

From what I can tell, you guys are looking for a girl that doesn’t take herself too seriously, who likes to laugh and have fun. If she doesn’t enjoy this kind of stuff then she’s probably not going to be the kind of girl that will hang out with your buddies at the bar while you have all night skee-ball tournaments. Remember, a first date is just as much about you getting to know her, as it is about her being impressed by you. Don’t do things that make you uncomfortable or that you don’t enjoy, because when you find out five months down the road that she’s high maintenance because she throws a fit when you want to grab a pizza, whereas before you only took her to five star restaurants…that’s kind of your own fault.

6) What is the worst kind of kisser?

It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again. Deal with your saliva issues. No one wants their memory of a first kiss to include trying to find a polite way to wipe their face. Feel what your partner is doing, and don’t push for more than she’s looking to give. However, if she’s giving you the green light…go for it.

7) How many dates before sex? Less than one is totally acceptable.

I’ve found dates through one night stands. I’ve also held off for months. It’s really a matter of the flow between you. I do know, however, that it is extremely easy to be written off as not being girlfriend material if you give it up too soon, so I avoid it as much as possible. I’d probably aim for four as an average, assuming 1-2 dates a week (and yes, coffee and watching a movie on the couch totally counts).

8) Ever flash anyone in public?

Never on purpose. Possibly that I can’t remember. College was rough.

9) Does size matter?

Extreme size issues? Yes. If you’re Andre the Giant or Warwick Davis, we’ll notice. But generally, no. We girls are pretty accommodating in that matter.

10) Freestyle. Go!

In defense of my gender…we’re really not as crazy as we seem. Well I mean, some girls are. But in general, we just think differently than you. There have been scientific studies! And we get just as annoyed with you, because while you think you guys are easy to understand…you’re really not. We spend time with other girls, where nuances and what is unsaid is just as important as what is said. I guess you guys don’t work like that, but your whole thought process confounds me. If she’s freaking out, she’s probably just frustrated. We know you don’t like to talk about feelings, but listening to her when she’s upset will work wonders. We don’t really like screaming and yelling, so I suggest trying to let her explain why she’s upset, without snapping at her, and maybe you’ll even get some insight into how our brains work. But for the most part, we all try to save the creepy overanalyzing for our girlfriends, because we sure as hell know that you don’t want to hear it. (And trust me, even the super laid back girls overanalyze. They’re just the best at hiding it.)

Thanks Anonymous Chick # 3.  Key takeaway: Ditch my "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt.
