Janet Jackson Performs at the Essence Music Festival

Janet Jackson rocked it at the Essence Music Festival last Friday! Performing "What Have you Done for me Lately", "Feedback", and many more of her hits since the 80s! She sang "Together Again" as a tribute for her brother Michael Jackson.

It's the first time Janet performed since her last tour two years ago. It's as if she never went away, her choreography and singing was top-notch!

She recently admitted that she loved being back to acting as she featured in Tyler Perry's last movie "Why Did I Get Married Too" and is also featured in "When The Rainbow is not enuf", a movie also directed and produced by Tyler Perry. However she is thankful for everything she has in her life and loves to sing too.

Janet Jackson Hopes to Play Eartha Kitt

Janet Jackson would like to play Eartha Kitt in a movie which would portray the singer’s life. Janet claims that Earth Kitt herself picked her for the role when she was still alive.

Janet on Earth Kitt: “I adore her [Kitt] and I had the opportunity to spend time with her. She had expressed wanting me to portray her and was excited about the idea of me portraying her in a film. If that's really going to happen, I'm not quite sure, but I hope it does.” She added: “What an icon. She had gone through so much – not just her adulthood, but her childhood.”

Ertha Kitt, the self-professed “sex kitten” was famous for playing Catwoman in the Batman TV series in the 1960s.

Oprah Interviews Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson was Oprah’s guest today, she answered difficult questions regarding Michael Jackson’s death, and how involved her family was in trying to prevent this from happening.

She discussed how she found out he passed away, how difficult it is for her to see pictures of him or listen to his music, and also the childhood memories she will always cherish. "There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him," she says. "All of us in the family think about him every single day." Janet says. "It's hard for me to look at an image of his or listen to his music on the radio."

Later on Tyler Perry joined Janet and emphasized how much the Jackson family tried to help Michael Jackson, and gave her tremendous support while filming “Why Did I Get Married Too”?  "We were very protective of her, all of us, because we knew each other. It was like her coming home—leaving her family and coming to another family," Tyler Perry Says.

Janet Jackson – To Work On New Movie, No New Album

Janet Jackson has been working on two songs “Nothing” and “Heartbeat Love”, which would lead fans to believe that she will release a new album soon. Unfortunately, for now Janet doesn’t plan on releasing a follow up to “Discipline”.

“There was a time where I was actually in the studio and I was recording, but I’m not working on an album,” says Janet. “There have been a lot of record labels that have asked me to sit down and talk with them, but I don’t know if I want to do something completely independent, or go with a major.”

When she will return to the studio, she’s not sure yet what kind of album she’d like to release. “Nothing” sounds like a classic pop song and “Heartbeat Love” is a dance club song. “I haven’t decided on exactly where I want to go or what I want to do.”

In the meantime, Janet enjoys acting as she stars in Tyler Perry’s new movie “Why Did I Get Married Too”, and has also been recently casted by the same director to play with Mariah Carey and Whoopi Goldberg in “Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”

But yet when it came to my own issues, not willing to deal with them.”
