I'll laugh my ass off when Apple do announce iPhone 5 at WWDC.

LOL @ all the false rumours.
We'll all laugh at you when it doesn't :). There could a miracle surprise at the very end, but I'm 99% sure that Apple needs to deal with the ageing iOS and improve all of their current products. Again, this would put it one step ahead of Androids honeycomb.

Sadly, as long as the Apple fanboys continue to flock to the iPhone unconditionally AT&T will have little to no reason to upgrade the quality of their service.

That was fixed when I updated to 4.3.1

Not here. Still have that issue on 4.3.1 on new (restored from backup) iPad 2.

Well, I don't know about this guy specifically. But I own over 20,000 vinyl records. Average 10 tracks each, that's 200,000 songs right there. Not to count at least that many 45's. A collection I've gathered over 50 years. Not to mention 78's, cylinders, etc.

The $1-per-song figure is also grossly inflated when you consider that many albums cost $7.99 to $9.99 and come with between 10-20 tracks. Look at the "Songs for Japan" album, for example. Good value there.

A good guess is 41 min per frame, 18k PPD, about the same as the old 2007 3Ghz...

    http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=11314&start=0

has all sort of speed tests.

see that's not all that impressive to me. you would think 8 real cores, or 16 cores with HT, would beat 4 real cores or 8 with HT. i mean i could buy 3 machines like my i7 for the same price as an octo mac pro 2.26. i'd rather have the mac pro, but i just can't justify it right now. maybe when the i9 comes out

18k PPD is pretty impressive. . . . if you run it in windows you could use the vid card too, probably pull close to 25k. I would love to see Pande Group put out a GPU client for mac OS X.... I'm getting sick of running windows 90% of the time on my Mac Pro.

yeah but you can't run the bigadv units in windows, and i can't get them to run in a VM either.

With these new big units no more need for GPU...

What would be nice is to run OS X and the big units, the GPU with WINE with a couple of fast Nvidia cards...

We just need one of the smart guys here to do a step by step for us...

yeah we do. i'm not one of those smart guys, and i'm too lazy to try and look up how to get GPU working in linux. i know you can do it though

Based on what? Oh...IC...I want it/have it, so it's better. Great 3rd grade mentality...

    No.

Simply because htcSensation is 1.2GHz dual core

and... and... iphone5 will have lesser RAM than htcSensation.

Also, Apple is closed and Google is open.

To give you an idea how mentally backwards this attitude is: In what is probably considered one of the most backward countries in the world, in Iran, the religious leaders are completely Ok with a transgender operation. To them, a man is a man, a woman is a woman, and a man or woman who has the bad luck to be born in the wrong kind of body should get help to get the problem fixed.

Huh? Iran isn't considered a backward country here in the UK...

Ha ha... when I glanced at the RSS feed I thought it said "Page 3 Features?". I thought: "Why the heck would MacRumors add a 'Page 3'? Much of the 'Page 1' stuff never comes to pass, and they've got 'Page 2' for the even less substantiated stuff..."

    Clearly you haven't had a look at Page 3 (http://www.macrumors.com/page3/)... ;)

The only people who lump in tablets and PMPs into the platform are apple lovers who are in denial. Everyone else separates them by device. Smartphones are compared to smartphones. Tablets to tablets, etc.

But that's what the iOS platform is: an OS that runs on tablets, PMP's and phones.

The people who care about the platform are developers, which are kind of important to everyone who uses the platform.

It turns out that this luxury, customized security hideaway where they caught him was only built five years ago (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/02/us-binladen-compound-idUSTRE7411NX20110502).

Who wants to take bets that the Pakistani government knew where he was all along and has been playing us for years, taking over $50 billion (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/02/us-binladen-compound-idUSTRE7411NX20110502) from us in aid (best numbers I could find) while pretending to help track him down?

Ha sound like me...typical college student. I've been selling stuff and have returned about 4 things in the past week because they all sucked!

I don't think this is indicative of a college student. I think it's smart to return things that aren't suited for you. I can think of many people who shop for clothes, for example, and they sit around with the tags on until they're given away because they're too small, dated, etc. ;)

Okay first off I like the framing in this. That little building doesn't feel cut off really, with that dominating focal point above it. I seriously love the placement of it, and how the picture just spans to the left. The lighting is superb. I love it, is really all I can say. You can see the golden highlights on the trees and the glow everywhere on the foliage. The saturated colors are lifelike and real to the photograph. You also positioned the focal point well. It's slightly under the curve of the hillside. This lets you take in the object with color popping it out all around.

This photo is better than I can do outside with nature. I really love this. That golden hour you shot at shows well. That is quite the capable lens! Loving this pic.

Whats happening with iChat, are they getting it to work with MSN Messenger networks like with AOL?

I have just switched to Mac, and it's annoying I cant Video Conference with any MSN Messenger users (MSN Messenger on Mac doesnt support it). iChat is awesome but I have no contacts, lol. Anyone know of any other way, I have tried AdiumX and looked into Jabber.

You can use aMsn an open-source MSN client which supports web cams (including the embedded iSight).
    http://amsn.sourceforge.net/download.php
It's available as a universal binary.

Yeah, it's totally dumb to think that a well-versed tech editor trying to launch a new company would know that the quickest way to get some eyeballs on pages is to spend hours making a pretty (controversial) iphone mockup and attaching it to an Apple rumor.

    Ridiculously dumb.

    Impossibly dumb.

Can't imagine what sort of dumb people would even suggest that.

    So dumb.

Your theory doesn't add up at all. thisismynext.com isn't even the site he's doing for SB nation, it's just a placeholder till they get their new project off the ground. Topolsky, Patel et al. don't need the publicity that much as their profile is extremely high as is e.g. thisismynextpodcast first podcast was already no.1 in tech and 8 on itunes overall.

Well, it is almost time for a new iMac to be released, isn't it? (Or a Mac Mini, Mac Pro, or MacBook for that sake)

iX... At first you could think about the Roman Number 9. But as you all know, in the upper part of X, you can also find the Roman number V. So that makes 14 then. (IX + V)

Now, the iMac shipped in 1998, while now it's 2011. 13 years of difference. Almost fourteen. Coincidence? I think not. Maybe that's a hint from Apple?

Then you got Mac, with a capital M, and a lowercase a and c. In M you can find I, V, and I, which together make (IV + I) 5. In a you can find c and I, which totals in 11 (C+I). Then you got the c, which of course, just translates in 10.
5 + 11 + 10 equals 26. As much as all letters in the Roman (aka Latin) alphabet.

Which leads us to believe that we have not to count the Roman numbers, but just the Roman letters.
M is the 13th letter of the alphabet.
A is the first letter of the alphabet.
C is the 3rd letter of the alphabet.
    TOTAL: 17.

Now we all know Apple's marketing. And you know that's a hint from the name in the title: MarketingName. Big words mean more to Apple than big numbers. "This computer is fantastic" is more advertised than "This computer has 8 GB of RAM". So that can conclude that we'll have to substract the Roman numbers from the Roman letters.

    26 - 17 = 9. Nine indeed. Got it?

9 was also the number iX, which we started with. This leads us to believe we have to be on the right track.

Now what are those dots in between the words?

Anyone else can further elaborate this? Thanks for your help.

Edit: I forgot the lower case i in iX. I used it as an uppercase letter. So maybe that only counts as 0.5 instead? So that equals 13.5 with the V included. That only gives Apple 6 months to finish the new unknown thing!

And I thought Ted Rogers was dead!
    Do I win Dusty Bin?

When one company acquires another like that, they don't just tear down all the old company's equipment and replace it with their own. If that were the case AT&T would simply skip over the whole mess with getting the deal approved by the US Department of Justice and the FCC and just buy a crapload of equipment to put up themselves with that $39 billion.

If the deal is approved T-Mobile's assets will be integrated into AT&T's network and AT&T is probably having all their handset manufacturers run similar testing on T-Mobile equipment to ensure compatibility.

Apple is not "wasting money" on a cell phone provider that is going away, and T-Mobile is not "getting" the iPhone.

You don't have a clue, but state your opinion as fact. Pretty funny stuff.

As a typical consumer, same as a prosumer, or pro -- speed. For example, backing up your iDevice, importing big megapixel photos and HD videos will be a whole lot quicker.

It will also make connections easier as TB can handled video, audio, and data in the same cable.

When is that going to happen?

I am not against Thunderbolt; not at all. I would love to have that kind of features in my iMac and a new Macbook Air if possible.

But when are we going to see those devices which take full advantage of Thunderbolt/LightPeak ports.
    For eg,

    - would it be possible to backup and sync full 64GB full iPad in 20s?
    At the moment, NO.
    - would it be possible to backup a whole TB of harddrive on an iMac in < 15 min?
    At the moment, NO.

    The question is:

For a consumer/pro-sumer, is Thunderbolt redundant for now? Will it take another generation of macbook pro's to generate pro-consumer Tunderbolt supported products?

    Thanks for answering.
